30.   Prohibition of uniform

  1.  

    (1)   A person commits an offence who wears in a public place without the written permission of the Commissioner of Police proof of which lies on him or her— (Amended by Act 8 of 2011)

      (a)     an article of clothing made from any of the disruptive pattern material used for making the military uniform commonly called the “camouflage uniform” or any other clothing resembling such uniform; or (Amended by Act 8 of 2011)

      (b)     a uniform or part of it worn by any police, military or paramilitary organisation of Saint Lucia or any other country, whether disbanded or not.

    (2)   A certificate purporting to be issued by the Commissioner of Police and stating that a uniform of a description specified in or annexed to the certificate is a uniform worn by any police, military or paramilitary organisation of Saint Lucia or any other country whether disbanded or not, shall be evidence of the matters stated in the certificate.

    (3)   A person who commits an offence under this section is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding $5,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year or to both such fine and imprisonment. (Amended by Act 8 of 2011)
