44E.   Interfering with particular things at licensed racecourse or places for holding horse races or trials

    (1)   Unless otherwise authorized under this Act a person shall not interfere with a lighting, power or control system, or other plant or equipment used in connection with holding a race or trial at a racecourse or a racecourse prepared or laid out for holding a race meeting without permission from the licensee.     (2)   In this section, “interfere with”, in relation to the operation of plant or equipment or to a racecourse, includes altering, damaging, destroying or removing the plant, equipment or racecourse, or a part of the plant, equipment or racecourse.

    (3)   A person who contravenes subsection (1) commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding $500,000 or to a term of imprisonment not exceeding 7 years or both.
