18.   Investigations

  1.  

    (1)   The Board may carry out an investigation in relation to an application made under section 16 and the applicant shall—

    1.  

      (a)     submit to the investigation;

    1.  

      (b)     submit to any interviews by the Board;

    1.  

      (c)     provide information or documents required by the Board.

    (2)   The costs of an investigation under subsection (1) shall be borne by the applicant. (Substituted by Act 18 of 2018)

    (3)   The Authority may require an applicant to pay a prescribed investigation fee for an investigation carried out under this section. (Substituted by Act 18 of 2018)

    (4)   At the end of an investigation, the Authority must certify the cost of the investigation and where the cost exceeds the prescribed investigation fee payable under subsection (3), the balance of that cost may be recovered from the applicant within such period as may be specified in writing by the Authority.     (5)   The Authority may refuse to consider an application if an applicant fails to pay the prescribed investigation fee under subsection (3) or the balance of the cost under subsection (4). (Inserted by Act 18 of 2018)
