10.   Lost or defaced identification cards

  1.  

    (1)   An elector whose identification card has been lost, defaced or destroyed shall be issued with another identification card upon application in the prescribed form to the Chief Elections Officer and upon payment of such fees as may be prescribed.

    (2)   Where the Chief Elections Officer is satisfied that an identification card is so defaced or faded as to be no longer distinguishable he or she may at any time issue to an elector registered under this Act a new identification card.

    (3)   If by reason of physical disability, an applicant is unable to visit a registration office or centre for the electoral district, that applicant may apply for registration at his or her place of residence. (Inserted by S.I. 83/2011)

    (4)   In subregulation (3), “place of residence” means a dwelling house or an institution. (Inserted by S.I. 83/2011)

    (5)   An application made under subsection (1) must be supported by a statutory declaration. (Inserted by Act 13 of 2016)

    (6)   Notwithstanding subsection (1), the Chief Elections Officer may, if he or she considers it necessary, exempt an elector from the payment of the fees prescribed for the issue of another identification card. (Inserted by Act 13 of 2016)
