18. Registration of marriages

(1) Civil Status Officers and Ministers of Religion are required to register marriages celebrated by them as a record of civil status in accordance with the Civil Code.

(2) A Civil Status Officer or Minister of Religion who fails to comply with this section commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding $5,000.
