4.   Aims and objects of the Christian Council

The aims and objects of the Council are -

  1.  

    (a)     to promote greater understanding and unity among all Christian communities in Saint Lucia;

  1.  

    (b)     to bear witness to a common profession of faith in God and in Jesus Christ and to truth, charity, equity and justice in Saint Lucia;

  1.  

    (c)     to preserve and protect the rights, powers, privileges and interests of member denominations of the Christian Council, within the framework of the laws of Saint Lucia;

  1.  

    (d)     to arrange for the holding of ecumenical services, rallies or other ecumenical meetings and to organize theological, historical or other studies in order to encourage and to promote effectively a better Christian way of life in the community;

  1.  

    (e)     to collaborate and co-operate with all religious organisations in the community with the object of bringing about the spiritual, moral, intellectual, social, cultural, economic and technical progress of the people of Saint Lucia, to the glory of God and the dignity of man;

  1.  

    (f)     to publish journals or such other publications as the Christian Council may consider necessary; and

  1.  

    (g)     to preserve, if necessary in conjunction with any religious or secular bodies or organisations, proper standards of Christian conduct and behaviour in Saint Lucia.
