(1) The following types of marriages may be lawfully solemnized in Saint Lucia in accordance with this Act—
(a) civil marriages; and
(b) religious marriages.
(2) Marriages may be performed—
(a) by licence granted by the Attorney General or after publication of banns, in the case of a religious marriage;
(b) by licence granted by the Attorney General and after publication of a notice, in the case of a civil marriage.
